Commercial Project

Metal Frames

Rigid tubular enclosures and support structures for equipment.

Project Overview

The construction of rigid tubular steel frames designed to act as highly resilient enclosures or support structures. These frames are custom-built to perfectly house specialized machinery and are constructed to withstand constant vibration, torque, and heavy static loads.

Typical Applications

Common executions of this service include custom machinery bases, heavy-duty commercial workbenches, generator and compressor enclosures, and specialized structural displays for commercial environments.

Materials Involved

Such fabrications rely on Square Hollow Sections (SHS) and Rectangular Hollow Sections (RHS) of varying wall thicknesses based on load requirements, alongside thick steel mounting plates, angle iron, and laser-cut connection brackets.

General Fabrication Considerations

Mitre joints must be cut with exact precision to ensure strong, seamless corners. The welding sequence is carefully orchestrated to mitigate heat distortion, which is essential to ensure the final frame sits completely level without rocking on the floor. Mounting points must align flawlessly with the equipment it intends to support.

Project Process

Materials are first profiled to size and laid out in a custom jig. After initial tacking, rigorous squareness and diagonal checks are performed. Full continuous welds are then applied. Depending on the visual requirement, external corner welds are often dressed flat with flap discs for a clean, aesthetic finish before the frame moves to painting or coating.
